The AOY Art Center/Art Gallery is delighted to announce the opening of the highly anticipated 2025 Plein Air Exhibition, featuring outdoor artworks created by some 50 talented artists from the greater Bucks County region and within a 35-mile radius of Yardley.

For the past two weeks, local artists have been “painting the towns” as part of the “Paint Our River Towns” Plein Air Open. Artists have captured scenes throughout the Delaware Valley including Tyler State Park, Lake Anton, Core Creek, Washington Crossing State Park, Historic Newtown, Yardley, Historic Fallsington, Langhorne, and many other picturesque locations throughout the area. The results of their work will be on exhibition at AOY Art Center beginning Saturday, May 17 from 12 - 5 pm and then Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through June 1. Interested individuals can also view and purchase artwork at the online gallery 24/7 at aoyarts.org.

Plein air painting, a French term meaning “in the open,” refers to the practice of creating art outdoors, capturing the essence and beauty of natural landscapes. This exhibition celebrates the tradition and artistry of plein air painting, showcasing a diverse range of styles and techniques that highlight the artists’ connection to the environment.

Each artist can submit up to three of their best works to the exhibition. Those works will be judged and awarded prizes by renowned and award-winning plein air artist Beth Bathe of Lancaster. Ms. Bathe has primarily been painting in oil en plein air since 2013. She participates in high profile competitions from Maine to Washington state, including Plein Air Easton, Door County WI, Cape Ann MA, Lighthouse Art Center FL, Paint Annapolis, MD, and others.

The exhibition features over 120 original artworks that will inspire and engage art enthusiasts of all ages. From picturesque landscapes to scenes of our communities, boroughs, and parks, the collection captures the splendor of nature, architecture, and human interaction with the surroundings.

AOY Art Center is located at 949 Mirror Lake Rd. in Lower Makefield on the Patterson Farm. The gallery is open to the public at no cost and is hosted by the participating artists.
