Celebrating community and compassion on the green

Posted

For 35 years, the Newtown Rotary Golf Outing has brought together local leaders, businesses, and golf  enthusiasts for more than just a day on the green—it’s been a celebration of community, service, and  support.

Last year’s outing raised over $25,000 for Pickering Manor, Newtown’s nonprofit Life Plan Community.  But beyond the dollars raised, the event highlights the deep bond shared between two mission-driven  organizations dedicated to service.

“The Rotary has been nothing short of incredible,” said David Woodhead, CEO of Pickering Manor. “Their continued support over the decades has directly enhanced the lives of our residents. Thanks to  their 2024 contributions, we were able to purchase new Hoyer lifts, which improve both resident safety  and caregiver support in our Skilled Nursing neighborhood.”

Woodhead adds, “Their motto, ‘service above self,’ is more than a phrase—it’s something they live out  with every gesture, every donation, every moment spent advocating for us and our surrounding  community. We are honored to have them as steadfast partners.”

Much of the event’s success can be credited to the dedicated Golf Committee, whose planning and  outreach efforts ensure a smooth and successful fundraiser each year. In appreciation, Pickering Manor  treated committee members to a celebratory lunch.

From morning tee-offs to the closing awards ceremony, the Rotary’s Golf Outing is a heartfelt reminder  of what’s possible when community and compassion come together.

This year’s Golf Outing will be held on June 2 at the Trenton Country Club. If you missed the chance to  join us this year, there’s always next time. Mark your calendar for next year’s outing and be part of  something truly meaningful.
