Spotlight: Medication Take Back Day is October 24th

Posted

When was the last time you cleared out your medicine cabinet? Maybe there’s a half-empty bottle from a dental procedure from years ago tucked behind the band-aids. While it’s easy to ignore, old and unused prescription medication can pose an unnecessary risk. Fortunately, Bucks County helps make safe medication disposal free,
anonymous, and straightforward.

In partnership with the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission Inc., and community partners and local coalitions, the Medication Take Back Program offers residents a free, safe, and convenient way to dispose of these medications. By operating semi-annual collection events in April and October, as well as
supporting 45 permanent year-round drop boxes in local police stations and hospitals, residents can utilize drive-up or walk-in service at sites throughout Bucks County.

The next Medication Take Back Day is Saturday, October 24 from 10 am – 2 pm! Check your cabinets for any expired prescriptions, over-the-counter medications and pet medications, vitamins, and vaping products! In addition, many sites across Bucks County will be collecting sharps for safe disposal and select collection locations will distribute free Narcan (naloxone) to community members while supplies last.

For a complete list of collection locations, site protocols, and accepted items, visit www.bcdac.org or call 215-444-2700.
