It started with an ordinary morning walk.
A woman from Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania noticed an old wooden box sitting at the curb waiting for the trash. Drawn to its vintage charm, she carried it home, thinking it would make an interesting decorative piece.
When she opened the box, she discovered it was filled with dozens of small yellow Kodak film boxes. Inside each one was an old 8mm home movie reel. Written on the outside were the original owner's name and address—information left there decades earlier when the films had been returned from Kodak after being developed.
She knew these films had to mean something to someone's family.
Unable to locate the original owner, she turned to Ancestry.com, hoping to find a relative. After some searching, she found a woman living in Reading, Pennsylvania who shared the same family name. She reached out with a simple message.
To her delight, the woman replied that the name and address belonged to members of her family. The long-lost home movies had been found.
The two women arranged to meet, and after what was likely decades apart, the films were finally reunited with the family they belonged to.
Wanting to preserve these priceless memories, the family entrusted the reels to Tailor Made Film & Video Transfers in Feasterville. The films were carefully transferred to High-Definition digital files, allowing scenes of loved ones, many no longer living, to be viewed once again by children, grandchildren, and future generations.
Sometimes preserving memories isn't just about converting old film—it's about reconnecting families with a part of their history they never thought they'd see again.
Tailor Made has been in the business of preserving family memories since 1985. They are located at 205 E Pennsylvania Blvd. on the Feasterville Business Campus. Open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. For more information, call 215-322-8444 or visit www.tmtransfers.com.
