What 30 years in real estate has taught me

Posted

After more than 30 years in real estate, I've learned that selling a home is rarely just a transaction. It's almost always about people, timing, and life changes.

The reasons people move are as individual as the homes they leave behind; a new job, a growing family, downsizing or simply starting a fresh chapter. Often, the decision has been years in the making.

I've also learned that homeowners don't need to do everything the internet tells them before listing. One of the most valuable parts of my job is helping clients determine what's truly worth doing--and what isn't. First impressions matter, but so does authenticity. Buyers ultimately want to see a home that has been cared for.

Perhaps most importantly, good advice isn't about convincing someone to move. It's about helping them understand their options so they can decide if the timing is right. During what is often an emotional transition, listening closely to my clients is my highest priority.

Over the decades, I've had the privilege of guiding generations of local families. Many clients have become lifelong friends, returning years later when another life shift occurs. After 30 years, I've seen just about everything; some of it wonderful, some challenging, and a few things you wouldn't believe!

Markets fluctuate, homes change hands and circumstances evolve. But the value of having a trusted professional to guide you through it all remains constant. Reach out to Kathleen@KathleenLayton.com or 215-801-2019 anytime!
